Just Floating?

We’ve enjoyed a great article by Claire Knowlton, associate director in Advisory Services at the Nonprofit Finance Fund.
In The Case to cover Full Costs, Ms Knowlton describes clearly - and entertainingly - a dilemma often faced by charities.
In summary it is this: wouldn’t it be better if things just floated without needing to be supported?
Like the plot of land in our picture, holding up the house.
Or, like the work that charities do, which surely - if they only got their act together - they could carry out without the charities stumping up for the dreadful costs known, collectively, as OVERHEADS.
As Ms Knowlton puts it, you can’t afford to get your hair cut and you don’t sleep at night for the noise coming from downstairs because of where you have to live - but, hey, at least you have a job, right? Just don’t ask for proof of effect - we don’t have a system to track that!
